This surprised me as the Berlin Airlift's 75th anniversary was already celebrated with a great event at Wiesbaden and elsewhere five years ago. But I see they now celebrate the end of the Airlift!

Thanks for the heads-up.

The Berlin Airlift started in 1948, and ended in 1949.
The website for the previous event (in 2019) was called berlinairlift70, are you sure it wasn't the 70th anniversary?

Hi,

2019 was 75 years D-Day and 70 years Berlin airlift.

Regards,

Benno

(making it now 80 and 75 respectively :-) )

Ehhhh OK, thanks! Only now I see the mismatch in the other topic between topic title and official website link.

It is suggested here that no less than 11 C-47s/DC-3s, mainly D-Day Squadron aircraft from the USA, could visit Wiesbaden on 15-16 June. See the schedule about 2/3 down this page as well.

Not only suggested but also confirmed in the timeline in their website: “June 15-16: BERLIN75 - US Army Airfield host Berlin 75 event, Wiesbaden Army Airfield on Clay Kaserne”.

Yes, that is what I pointed to. However it says there proposed timeline and the site doesn't seem to be updated.

A not-too-extensive search shows N74589, N150D, N151ZE, N8336C and N33644 have made the Atlantic crossing so far and are in the UK (North Weald and OId Warden event last weekend). N473DC and G-ANAF are UK-based and active, N431HM lives in Switzerland and I suppose F-AZOX is doing in well in France, but found no track data at the moment for her.

According to various sources, not all Dakotas will stay around after the D-Day events. There is no certainty yet which ones (or even which amount) will make the journey to Wiesbaden.
